Placement of Guest Supplies and Amenities
To ensure a consistent and high-quality guest experience, hotels have standard procedures for where to place items in the room. This makes it easy for guests to find what they need and creates a sense of order and care. In Nepal, you will often find local products used as amenities, which adds a special touch.

  • Bedroom Area:

    • Bed: Made with clean, crisp linen. In Nepal, you might find a traditional Dhaka topi (cap) or a small thank you card placed on the pillow as a welcome gesture.

    • Bedside Table: Telephone, alarm clock, notepad and pen, a small torchlight (important in places with potential power cuts), and a local welcome drink menu.

    • Desk/Table: Hotel information folder, Wi-Fi password card, local tourist information, and a lamp.

    • Wardrobe/Drawers: Spare pillows and blankets, clothes hangers, laundry bags and price list, and a safe for valuables.

  • Bathroom Area:

    • Vanity: Neatly arranged towels (bath towel, hand towel), face cloths, a bath mat. Toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, and soap. In a Nepali hotel, these might be locally made herbal products.

    • Shower/Bath Area: Dispensers with soap and shampoo, or individual bottles. A sign encouraging guests to conserve water, which is a common and responsible practice in Nepal.

  • General Areas:

    • Waste Baskets: Placed in both the bedroom and bathroom.

    • Luggage Rack: A stand to place suitcases on, so guests don’t have to put them on the floor or bed.

    • Curtains: Clean and hanging straight, with easy-to-use pulls.

    • Complimentary Items: In some hotels, a small complimentary item like a local sweet (e.g., a piece of yomari or a local candy) or a small packet of tea might be left for the guest.
