Introduction
The guest room is the heart of the hotel. It is the private space where guests relax, sleep, and prepare for their day. The quality, cleanliness, and comfort of the guest room are major factors in a guest’s overall satisfaction. For a hotel in Nepal, whether it’s a luxury suite in Kathmandu or a simple room in a trekking lodge, the principles of providing a comfortable and welcoming space are the same. This chapter will cover the different types of rooms, what goes into them, and the operational language used to describe their status.

Types of Rooms
Hotels offer different categories of rooms to suit various guest needs and budgets. The names and features can vary, but some standard types are common across the industry. In Nepal, many hotels also add a touch of local style to these standard room types.
